Calling all Kiwi veterans living in Australia! Veterans Affairs New Zealand are hosting two online events on Wednesday 30 March for New Zealand veterans living in Australia. Each online event aims to give you an overview of the support that is available to New Zealand veterans in Australia. Both events will cover the same information, but you can pick what time best suits you. These will be held at 12:00pm and 4:00pm AEDT. These events will be held on Zoom and you can find more information on what to expect and how to register on our website: http://www.veteransaffairs.mil.nz/.../online-event-for.../

Welfare report Nov 2021
Following information received after the ANZAC Day main parade, regarding a Mr Gary Williamson, further enquiries were made. It appeared that this gentleman had been waiting for around 12 months for further contact from us that had been previously promised to him. Having made contact with him, a visit was arranged to his home in Werribee to discuss his needs and entitlements. We were able to arrange through VANZ for him to receive home care and garden and lawn maintenance, and further entitlements are being followed up for him.
We also followed up on another member that was referred to us by ANZAC House via the Red Cross. When contacted, he informed us that he was just being admitted to Frankston Hospital, have suffered a suspected heart attack and asked if we could contact him again after a few days. When we called again to enquire how he was doing, we were advised that he had signed himself out of hospital against doctor's orders. Further attempts to contact this man by phone and email have, to date, been fruitless.
One of our best loved members' health has been declining and we have been assisting his family with arranging home help. We have referred him on to VANZ and, once we have received the appropriate paperwork, we will be assisting them to complete it and get him the assistance he requires.
We ask all our members - if you know of anyone who is needing assistance, please don't keep it to yourself and let them fall through the cracks. Please contact either myself, Danny Allen, or John Capon - we can't help these ex-pats if we don't know about them.
I would also make mention of the assistance given by Caulfield in our welfare matters - it is greatly appreciated from our Welfare and Committee members - so a big BZ to you.
